The IEEE NUS Student Branch organized the 24 hours Hackathon 2019 over from 23-24 February 2019. The Hackathon aims to provide a platform for cross-disciplinary appreciation and project implementation in terms of both hardware and software to increase exposure to the varsity landscape of the hack culture.
150 students from a variety of disciplines ranging from JCs, Polys and several Universities attended the event. Participating teams had to work on either a software or hardware product which is related to the theme of Education in any ways. Shortlisted teams proceeding to the final judging round and the top three winning teams as well as the ‘Troll’s Hack’, ‘Practical Hack’, ‘Most Creative Hack’ and ‘Mind-Blowing Hack’ were awarded. A total of $1000 was awarded to the 7 teams.
Our judges were:
- Mr Yang Boon Quek, the director of Smart Nation Systems and Solutions, Sensors and Internet of Things, GovTech Singapore
- Dr Khoo Eng Tat, educator ad researcher in Human-Computer Interaction, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and game design. He is a senior lecturer in NUS EDIC.
- Dr Tang Kok Zuea, lecturer in the Design-Centric Curriculum, Faculty of Engineering in NUS since 2010.
